The LRZ offers the option of making video files publicly available as video on demand. Video files are uploaded via a web form, converted into streamable formats using a powerful video management system and then made available via streaming servers. The video streams can be embedded in your own web pages using a web player hosted at the LRZ or with your own self-hosted player components.
Scope of Services and Service Specifics
- Operation and provision of the infrastructure for the delivery of video files and delivery of video streams on user request (on-demand video streaming)
- Access-restricted interfaces are offered for the secure delivery of video files:
- a web form for manual use with a web browser
- a technical interface (API) for (semi-)automated use with local software
- Storage of uploaded video files in a modern video management system
- Conversion of uploaded video files into streaming-compatible formats
- Provision of video streams according to the "on-demand" principle
- with URL to a web-based video player for embedding in own websites
- with URL to a video stream with adaptive bit rate and resolution for use with your own video player
Requirements
- Participation in the DFN-AAI and operation of a compatible identity provider (IdP)
- Commissioning via ticket at the service desk
- Inventory data must be transferred to the new system by the end of 2024 at the latest
- The existing inventory will be dissolved by the end of 2024, the storage area will be switched off
