With the printing cost accounting system "PaperCut", the LRZ offers the possibility to charge printing costs locally at your customer organisation depending on the user. For each user with a valid identification in the user administration at the LRZ, there is a print account to which the user can upload the purchased print credit via a website. The credit is purchased in the form of coupons at your institution.
Scope of Services and Service Specifics
The scope of services for printing cost accounting includes:
- Connection of printers to a print server at the LRZ
- Web interface for end users to manage their own credit balance
- Credit coupons with the logo of the respective institution
- Reimbursement of printing costs in the event of printing problems
- Free printing can be configured for individual user groups
- Payments to outgoing students
- Integrated into the MWN-ADS for user administration
- Transfer of existing print quotas from existing print cost accounting solutions possible
- Instruction in the system at your premises
- Revenue from coupon sales is managed at the institution - no financial flows via the LRZ required
Requirements
Your institution must be connected to the MWN and to the central user administration at the LRZ.
The connected printers must be network-compatible and compatible with the "PaperCut" accounting software.
User guidelines
The service-specific guidelines for the use of the Munich science network (in German) and the service Druckkostenabrechnung must be observed.
Licensing costs
The correct licensing of the client systems is the sole responsibility of the client. The necessary Client Access Licences (CAL) for access to Windows Server must be procured by the client organisation for each:n user:in.
For this service, the following licences are required for each print client, regardless of its operating system:
- 1x Windows Server CAL
The client licences can be purchased from the LRZ.
The costs for licensing the necessary server systems are borne by the LRZ.
Please note that the "Print Cost Accounting" service can also be used in particular when commissioning "MWN-PC" or "MWN-MAC".
