Registration Domain Name

The LRZ can offer institutions the registration of domain names. Domains below the top-level domains indicated in the table can be registered. It is also possible to register domains under other top-level domains. The fees for this are to be determined in each individual case. Domains that already exist with another domain reseller can be transferred to the LRZ.

The domain applied for by the customer is registered for one year and automatically renewed for another year. If the customer no longer needs the domain, he will inform the LRZ. The domain will then be cancelled by the LRZ at the next possible date (usually the date of the next renewal).

The customer's assistance is required in particular for transfers of already existing domains. The customer has to approve the transfer with his old provider and has to pass on the authorization data (e.g. outcodes) he receives from his old provider to the LRZ.
