Service Option Frequency and Position Planning of Access Points

The LRZ offers its competence in the optimization of WLAN supply. This service is useful for complicated building geometries or technically complex WLAN installations. For most buildings a building floor plan is sufficient to determine the positioning of access points on this basis.

However, this service can only be provided for access points that are already in use in the MWN and will later be operated by the LRZ. It is mandatory that building floor plans are available in CAD format (AutoCAD).

The planning can include the following partial aspects:

• Placement and frequency planning for access points based on the CAD plan
• Carrying out an inventory measurement on site
• Performance of a simulation measurement on site (the necessary access points and tripods are provided by the LRZ)
• Placement and frequency planning for access points based on the measurement results.

Individual points from the above list can also be ordered. The customer receives a qualified expert opinion with suggestions for the placement and frequency selection of access points, as well as a presentation of the coverage and expected performance of the planned WLAN network.

• Set-up times: Consultation 2 weeks after receipt of a request and the necessary documents. Documents are for example building plans in CAD format. These will be agreed upon when the order is placed. The measurement and the preparation of the expert opinion is carried out within 4 weeks after the consultation.
