WLAN and Eduram

• LRZ: With the SSID lrz the communication between two clients via the access point is blocked for security reasons (no authentication), connections are only possible to www.lrz.de, via VPN also to the MWN and the Internet.
• Eduroam: WLAN access for students and staff at scientific institutions, but also for guests participating in scientific projects. eduroam can be used in many institutions worldwide.
• BayernWLAN: The network, which is publicly accessible to everyone, is also broadcast via the WLAN access points of the LRZ. In return, eduroam is accessible via BayernWLAN access points.
• MWN events: Secure WLAN for conferences, see Serviceoption "Internet Access at Events"

• The 802.11n standard (up to 450 Mbps) is supported at all locations, as well as 802.11ac at most of them and some 802.11ax.
• Eduroam: For the eduroam configuration you should use the WLAN profiles which you can download here. Currently the profiles for SIM IDs from the LRZ, tum.de and mytum.de IDs from the TUM as well as lmu.de and campus.lmu.de IDs from the LMU work. For other IDs (e.g. hm.edu or IDs of guest students) the profiles do not work.
• BayernWLAN: Over 6500 access points in the Munich science network provide access to BayernWLAN. From Berchtesgaden to Freising and beyond, Internet users can now log in to @BayernWLAN free of charge via LRZ access points.
• In return, the BayernWLAN access points broadcast the worldwide science network eduroam - a service from which travelling scientists and students benefit.
• MWN events: The use of the conference WLAN must be applied for at the LRZ by the organizer of the event or the local supervisor. You can find the application form here.
