Blockade of Emails with executable Attachment
Diese Seite gibt es auch auf deutsch
Our mailsystem recommended this address to you for one of two
reasons:
- either your PC sent an email because it is infected with a virus (see "virus" below)
- or you sent an email with an executable attachment (see "email" below).
Virus
Your system is infected with a virus which has either automatically sent itself to all the addresses in your address book; and/or to all the addresses of web sites you visit.
We strongly recommend you to install virus-scanning software AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! We advise you, too, not to access the internet until your PC has been disinfected. Users of the Leibniz Computing Centre can obtain Sophos virus-scanning software from us.
Our policy about
blocking emails contains more information, but is written in
German.
In order to protect our clients from viruses that distribute themselves via email, we do not deliver mails with executable attachments.
If you are quite sure that your attachment is not infected, you can
still email it, simply by changing the name of the file: change its tag
(".exe", for example) into some other tag (".xxx", for example) before
attaching it to your email. Consult the list of the tags
we block to see which tags need changing.
